The following week, Taishan faced Hong Kong's Chan Kuan-yin in the third round but lost in straight sets. However, he bounced back and defeated the Japanese player Masaki Sugiyama in the fourth round to advance to the semi-finals where he faced the defending champion, Hong Kong's Chen Yihong.

In the semi-final, Taishan faced China's Li Huiyi and won the match 6-4, 7-5. He then defeated Japan's Takanori Yamaguchi in the final to claim his first major title.

Taishan's success is due to his strong serve and accurate forehand, which he uses to great effect. He also has good footwork and control over his shots, making him a formidable opponent for any opponent in the field.
